Madrasa of sultan Barqūq (Cairo)

Located in Sharia al-Mu’izz li-Din Allah, between the complex of sultan Qalāwūn and the madrasa of sultan al-Nāṣir Muḥammad, Cairo.

Epigraphic emblems on the main corridor’s doors and in grating panels above the four doors of the courtyard.

Epigraphic emblem on the door:

برقوق السلطان الملك الظاهر عز نصره

Barqūq (u) the sultan al-Malik al-Ẓāhir (c) may his victory be glorified (l)

Epigraphic emblem on the grating panels:

الظاهر السلطان الملك برقوق

al-Ẓāhir (u) the sultan al-Malik (c) Barqūq (l)

Possible dating: 786/1384-788/1386
